Who We Are

Dr. Hultgren is the president and owner of Above the Line Leaders International. Dr. Hultgren's career spans three decades and multiple continents, serving diverse industries. As owner of Above the Line Leaders International, a silent partner in The AWL Group and a former adjunct professor of leadership studies at Bethel University, MN and Southland College, NSW, Australia (25 years combined as Adjunct Professor teaching leadership), Ron keeps a foot in both the practical and the theoretical domains of leadership. Ron has a passion for helping leaders build high performance organizations using authentic action and trust-based influence. Using his Authentic Leadership model, he can discern real issues from their symptoms and map out long-term solutions to complex problems. Ron teaches on dozens of topics, including: six steps to aligned action, influencing for unity, change management, emotional intelligence, and optimizing team performance. His strategy process was listed by several Fortune 100 executives as the best they had ever experienced, and his Authentic Action program has been implemented at several universities and within many organizations. Ron is highly relational and uses a collaborative approach to addressing challenging and difficult issues.

Kurt Bramer, M.A., Leadership. Kurt has both a BA and MA degree in organizational leadership through Bethel University with research and thesis work in the area of ethics. He has studied and taught The Action Wheel under Dr. Hultgren. Since 2012, he has served as a faculty adjunct professor in the College of Adult and Professional studies. Kurt teaches course work specific to leadership, ethics, and cultural competency. In addition to his work in academics, Kurt served as a Deputy Chief of Operations for a large urban EMS service in Minneapolis, Mn. There his work involved practical application of leadership in a wide variety of situations ranging from mentorship of both new paramedics and new management staff, to large scale emergencies including the 35W Bridge Collapse and flooding in Fargo-Morehead in 2009. Additionally, his work has led him to plan and oversee high profile events including the Republican National Convention, the MLB All Star Game, and Super Bowl 52. Kurt has a proven track record of facilitating multi-disciplinary teams and innovation that has influenced the public safety industry both nationally and internationally.
